The top scorer in the last two seasons of the I Liga, with 29 goals in 2023/24 and 39 in 2024/25, respectively, the forward bids farewell to the Lions after two years, including winning the same number of league titles and a Portuguese Cup, and returns to England, where he previously played for top-flight Brighton (2018-2021) and Coventry (2021-2023), in the second division, but never made his Premier League debut.

Viktor Gyökeres, who turned 27 on June 4th and had a €100 million release clause, had the seventh-most expensive transfer in the world in the current summer transfer window and dethroned Portuguese international midfielder Bruno Fernandes at the top of Sporting's all-time transfer market.

The captain of the English club Manchester United, led by former Sporting coach Ruben Amorim, left the Alvalade club in 2020 and earned a fixed fee of €55 million, plus €25 million for objectives, of which €10 million has already been achieved, bringing the total to €65 million.

In the list of assets reported by Sporting to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Bruno Fernandes and Viktor Gyökeres are being pursued by Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who was signed in 2023 by four-time French champions and European champions Paris Saint-Germain for €60 million, but would later sign for United a year later.

Outside the top spot is Portuguese U-21 international winger Geovany Quenda, who signed with English club Chelsea in March in a deal valued at €50.8 million fixed plus €1.4 million in variables, but will only make a permanent move to the recent World Cup winners next summer, remaining with Sporting for another season.

Quenda ranked above Spanish right-back Pedro Porro, midfielder Matheus Nunes, and left-back Nuno Mendes, all of whom were sold for €45 million by the two-time Portuguese champions.

While Matheus Nunes, now with English side Manchester City, arrived at Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fixed fee plus €5 million in variable fees, Pedro Porro and Nuno Mendes were initially loaned to Premier League side Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain, with loan fees of €5 million and €7 million included in the final sum of each deal.

Midfielder João Mário, a European champion with Portugal in 2016, and Algerian forward Islam Slimani cost €40 million and €30 million fixed fees to Italian side Inter Milan and English side Leicester, respectively, while winger Nani, another key figure in the Portuguese national team's greatest success, joined Manchester United for €25.5 million.
