These meetings will be held biweekly and will take place during the Enhanced Operational Commitment period, Delta Level, which corresponds to the months of June, August, and September, to involve the participation of a wide range of entities with responsibilities on the ground.
Participating in these meetings are the Municipal Civil Protection Service, the National Republican Guard, the Loulé Municipal Fire Department, the Portuguese Army, the municipality's Parish Councils, the Serra do Caldeirão Forestry Producers Association, municipal companies (Infralobo, Infraquinta, and Inframoura), representatives of the Hunting Associations and Clubs, and the organizational units of the Municipality of Loulé with relevant expertise in the area.
The main objective of these meetings is to ensure effective coordination, real-time information sharing, and the mobilization of appropriate resources for prevention, surveillance, and rapid response to potential incidents, promoting integrated and concerted action to ensure the safety of the population and the preservation of natural heritage.
This initiative reflects the Municipality of Loulé's dedication to managing land sustainably and minimizing the risk of rural fires. It is based on a collaborative, networked approach involving all partners in the civil protection system. Notably, in 2024, Loulé registered one of the lowest areas affected by fire in the past two decades—under six hectares burned since records began in 2004.
